First Post!
My name is Jaclyn, pronounced (JACK-LYN). I feel the need to include this due to the number one thing people do with my name is either misspell and/or mispronounce my name. And no I don't go by Jackie, people also ask me that question a lot lol
I'm currently in my fourth year of school, dual-enrolled with Oregon State. I changed from being a biology major to a business major which put me a little behind schoolwise. Do I know what I'd like to do with my business degree? No.
Am I aware I'm running out of time to pick something? Yes.
It's fine. I'm fine. I'll find something eventually, right?
At least that's what everyone keeps telling me. Kind of just going with the flow of things at this point, to be honest.
A marketing course is required for my major and I picked this one because the teacher for the course had really good reviews. And I don't know about you but I enjoy a class that much more when there's a highly recommended individual teaching the course. To add I know nothing about marketing let alone the business world. All throughout my prior schooling, I mainly stuck to science-based courses and had never explored the business world until about a year ago. So I'm looking forward to learning about all the new pathways marketing has to offer.
Like I said prior I have very little knowledge of marketing and have no clue what to expect with this course. I will say one thing I am nervous about is the readings. Reading is 1001% my biggest weakness along with public speaking of course; reading aloud is my worst nightmare. I told my mom I had to read a good amount for this class and she responded with "good thing you're a scholar reader" in a complete sarcasmic tone along with a slight chuckle. Even my mom knows my great deteste toward reading.
Although I have recently decided to fix my dislike of reading and ordered some books that interest meme. I never thought id say but I'm kind of excited for them to arrive!
I am very passionate about the ocean. Ever since I was young I've been obsessed with the water. My plan with the biology major was to specialize in marine biology and Oregon State has one of the best programs there is to offer. But that obviously didn't work out so hopefully, I can still find a way to emerge myself in what I love through the business world. I guess if I had a career goal it'd be to work within the surf industry, surfing is my favorite sport and I'd love to somehow be involved. I'm not sure how or what I'd even do in a career field like surfing but I'd love to be able to travel and explore different famous surf spots in person if I had the opportunity to. I try to make the ocean a part of my life as much as possible whether it's watching documentaries or physically traveling to ocean destinations. Overall being in the ocean is like no other feeling I've ever felt before, I think I love the ocean so much because it's a constant change that no one has control over.
